Forged round steel is round steel produced through a forging process according to technical requirements. Domestically, the diameter can generally reach up to 1500 mm. Forged material is shaped by the impact force of forging, making it suitable for small components or special-shaped steel processing. Round steel refers to a solid long steel bar with a circular cross-section. Its specification is indicated by the diameter in millimeters; for example, “50” means round steel with a diameter of 50 mm. Round steel is divided into three types: hot-rolled, forged, and cold-drawn. The specification for hot-rolled round steel ranges from 5.5 to 250 mm. Among these: small round steel of 5.5–25 mm is mostly supplied in straight bundles and is commonly used as rebar, bolts, and various mechanical parts; round steel larger than 25 mm is mainly used for manufacturing mechanical parts or as billets for seamless steel pipes. Differences between round steel and other steel bars: 1. Appearance: Round steel has a smooth surface with no patterns or ribs, while other steel bars have patterns or ribs on the surface. This results in lower bond strength between round steel and concrete, whereas other steel bars have higher bond strength with concrete. 2. Composition: Round steel (Grade I steel) is ordinary low-carbon steel, while other steel bars are mostly alloy steel. 3. Strength: Round steel has lower strength, while other steel bars have higher strength. That is, for the same diameter, round steel has a lower tensile capacity compared to other steel bars, but round steel has greater plasticity—it undergoes greater deformation before breaking, whereas other steel bars deform much less before breaking.
